production COMPANY RESEARCH
At the start of a movie, two company logos are shown, the logo of the distribution company and the logo of the production company.
Production companies are smaller organisations that handle the budgeting, casting, scripting, and overall creating of the film in question. They tend to stick to just one genre of film, and can sometimes only be brought together for one movie and disbanded afterwards. Of course, the specialist nature of these companies mean their logos can better represent their chosen genre, if we, for example, look at horror film production companies, we can see how they immediately let the audience know what they're in for.
Examples of production companies are as follows:

Examples of production companies are as follows:
TWISTED PICTURES
Responsible for the Saw franchise, this logo clearly represents the kind of films you can expect from this team. Graphic, violent and brutal, the barbed wire even makes an appearance in the first film, Saw, this group ever produced. |
BLUMHOUSE PRODUCTIONS
Best known for their hugely successful Paranormal Activity franchise, this logo gives us scary children, blood cracked walls and floating furniture. It's immediately obvious this team deals in supernatural horror, as it should be. |
DARK CASTLE ENTERTAINMENT
Another interesting example here, sometimes the distribution company will blend it's logo with the production companies to create a smooth transition between them. For example, here I think the golden, sunny WB logo would have been vastly out of place, instead, both logos are fused into one sequence. |
GHOST HOUSE PICTURES
A spooky, scary skeleton looking through a key hole, it's exactly what you'd expect when dealing with the creators of The Grudge and the Evil Dead 2013 remake. Just like all the others, it's clear they make horror, it's clear what kind of horror they make. End of story. |
